RUKIGA — Rukiga Woman Member of Parliament Dr. Sylvia Alinaitwe is currently addressing residents of Bukinda Subcounty as the highly anticipated Emikono Yeitu six-month skilling programme officially launches today at Kyerero Playground.
The programme, sponsored by Dr. Alinaitwe, is bringing together residents, community leaders and other stakeholders in a major drive aimed at equipping people with practical skills that can translate into employment, self-reliance and improved household livelihoods.
The launch is being presided over by the Minister for Gender and Culture, Hon. Mary Kutesa Kamuli, who is the Chief Guest at the event.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Alinaitwe is highlighting the importance of empowering communities with practical skills that can enable individuals to create opportunities for themselves rather than solely depending on formal employment.
The Emikono Yeitu, meaning “Our Hands,” programme is designed to give beneficiaries hands-on skills that they can use to start income-generating activities, pursue employment opportunities and strengthen their livelihoods.
The launch has drawn a strong gathering of residents and local leaders, reflecting growing community interest in skills development as a tool for economic empowerment.
As the programme gets underway at Kyerero Playground, attention is now focused on the opportunities the six-month initiative will create for beneficiaries across Rukiga.
