KAZO — Kazo District Woman Member of Parliament Hon. Molly Kamukama has called upon Ugandan youth to rally behind fellow young people seeking to take up greater leadership responsibilities, describing Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba as part of a new generation that should be supported.
Kamukama made the remarks on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Kazo model playground during a PLU mobilisation exercise in Kazo District where residents were invited to endorse Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba for the presidency.
Kamukama challenged young Ugandans to develop confidence in their generation and support fellow youth in leadership, saying the country already has a significant number of young people occupying positions of responsibility.
She argued that Uganda’s young people should not wait indefinitely before taking up leadership, noting that youth are already represented in Parliament and other important institutions of government.
Kamukama questioned the argument sometimes raised about young leaders taking responsibility while older generations are still alive, saying leadership should also provide space for younger generations to contribute to the country’s future.
She urged the youth to increase their morale and support for Gen. Muhoozi, whom she described as one of the young people seeking to contribute to Uganda’s leadership.
Her message came as PLU mobilisers continued collecting signatures in Kazo as part of an endorsement exercise for Gen. Muhoozi.
PLU spokesperson Polly Karamuzi Katwire told the gathering that Gen. Muhoozi is expected to leave his current military office in 2031 and come forward to represent Ugandans politically, urging citizens to endorse him ahead of the time.
Kazo District LCV Chairperson Rev. Samuel Katugunda also called upon residents to endorse Gen. Muhoozi and thanked the NRM government for its contribution to the country.
Daniel Tito, the PLU Coordinator for Kazo District, urged residents to support the mobilisation exercise and back Gen. Muhoozi.
The event brought together PLU mobilisers, local leaders and residents as the organisation continued its grassroots mobilisation and signature collection activities in Kazo District.
