Kabale, Uganda — The Roman Catholic Diocese of Kabale has welcomed a new shepherd, Rt. Rev. Bonaventure Bosco Gubazire, M.Afr., following his episcopal ordination and installation on 3 October 2026 at St. Ignatius University Grounds, Rushoroza, Kabale Municipality.

A son of Kitumba in Kabale District, Bishop Gubazire returns home after more than two decades of dedicated service to the Catholic Church through pastoral ministry, missionary work, priestly formation, academia and leadership across Africa and Asia.

From his early education at St. Mary’s Boys Primary School and St. Paul’s Minor Seminary, Rushoroza, to his missionary assignments in Mozambique, Malawi, the Philippines and Ghana, his journey is one of faith, service, scholarship and commitment to the Church.

On 15 July 2026, Pope Leo XIV appointed him Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kabale, succeeding Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira.
His installation marks a significant new chapter for Kabale Diocese as he takes up the responsibility of shepherding the faithful of the Diocese.
