BUDADIRI EAST – The Budadiri East Member of parliament Hon Julius Nakiyi has taken a major step towards improving healthcare services in Bukiise Sub-county after officially receiving land for the construction of a Health Centre III expected to serve about 30,000 residents.
The land was officially handed over to Nakiyi on Sunday, September 20, 2026, by Bukiise Sub-county LC3 Chairperson Mr. Woniala Daniel on behalf of the local leadership.
The development marks a significant milestone in plans to bring essential health services closer to the people of Bukiise and surrounding communities.
Speaking after receiving the land, Nakiyi said he will immediately embark on the design of the health centre in line with Ministry of Health requirements before construction starts in October 2026.
The MP said the facility will be developed with the required standards to ensure that residents have access to better and more reliable healthcare services within their own community.
The project is expected to serve thousands of residents who will no longer have to travel long distances to access essential medical services once the facility becomes operational.
Nakiyi’s move also demonstrates a focus on developing permanent infrastructure that can continue serving the community beyond the current leadership.
Importantly, once construction is completed, the facility will be handed over to the Government for management and provision of public health services.
With the land now officially secured, the next phase is the design and construction of the facility, with works expected to begin in October 2026.
For the people of Bukiise, the handover signals that the long-awaited health facility is moving from plans on paper to a project with land secured and construction on the horizon.
