MBARARA- A husband and his wife have been killed in a night attack by unknown assailants in Kafunjo Cell, Nyarubanga Ward, Mbarara City North Division.
The deceased have been identified as Herbert Turyatunga and his wife, Jane Nakyanzi.
Preliminary information indicates that the attackers stormed the couple’s home at around 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, where Nakyanzi was attacked and killed at the scene.
Turyatunga reportedly returned home while the assailants were still inside. He was attacked and critically injured before being rushed to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital.
Despite efforts to save his life, Turyatunga was pronounced dead on arrival at about 4:00 a.m.
The motive behind the attack remains unknown, while investigations are expected to establish what happened and identify those responsible.
