LUGAZI MUNICIPALITY — Hon. Julius Nakiyi, Member of Parliament for Budadiri East, on Sunday joined Hon. Senteza Richard, MP for Lugazi Municipality, at a thanksgiving ceremony held at Kiteza Primary School in Lugazi Municipality.
The thanksgiving Mass was led by Rev. Fr. Kibowa Ginatiyo and brought together church members, leaders, residents and well-wishers to celebrate the occasion and support the church’s development.
The ceremony was combined with a fundraising drive aimed at mobilizing resources towards the completion of the church, giving participants an opportunity to contribute towards a project of importance to the local community.
In his message, Hon. Nakiyi encouraged Ugandans to look beyond political party differences and religious affiliations and focus on working together for the development of their communities and the country.
He said national progress required citizens and leaders to embrace cooperation on issues that benefited communities and contributed to Uganda’s development.
Hon. Nakiyi also used the occasion to highlight the importance of preserving Uganda’s rich cultural heritage, with particular emphasis on the traditions of the people of Bugisu.
He promoted the traditional Imbalu ceremony, emphasizing its significance as an important part of Bugisu cultural heritage and the need for such traditions to be preserved and passed on to future generations.
The ceremony brought together thanksgiving, church fundraising and cultural promotion, with Hon. Nakiyi and Hon. Senteza Richard joining the congregation in supporting the completion of the church while highlighting the importance of community participation and Uganda’s diverse cultural heritage.
