RUKUNGIRI: Ibanda District Woman Member of Parliament Hon. Jovrine Kaliisa Kyomukama has contributed Shs10 million at the Thanksgiving ceremony of Security Minister and Rujumbura County MP Rtd. Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi, held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Kasoroza Playground in Nyakagyeme Sub-county, Rukungiri District.
The Thanksgiving brought together political leaders, security officers, religious leaders, friends and supporters to give thanks to God following Muhwezi’s political victory and the wider electoral success of the NRM and Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) in the 2026 elections.
Kaliisa, who was among the guests at the ceremony, used the occasion to appreciate Muhwezi for what she described as his contribution and service to Uganda over the years. She thanked him for the work he has done for the country and commended him for remaining committed to serving Ugandans.
In her remarks, Kaliisa also recognised Muhwezi’s family, particularly his wife, Susan Muhwezi, whom she praised as a good and wise woman. She noted the importance of having a supportive and principled partner in a family and in public life.
The Ibanda District Woman MP also recognised Hon. Maj. Guma David Gumisiriza, the current Member of Parliament for Ibanda North County, describing him as a soldier who loves and respects God. Her recognition of Gumisiriza added a strong Ibanda connection to the gathering, with both leaders representing different constituencies of Ibanda in the 12th Parliament.
The Thanksgiving was also centred on faith and community development. Muhwezi used the occasion to thank God for seeing him through the electoral period, while the fundraising drive was aimed at supporting the completion of Kasoroza Church of Uganda, his home church.
Kaliisa’s Shs10 million contribution, together with her message of appreciation to Muhwezi and recognition of Gumisiriza, reflected a broader message of faith, gratitude and recognition of public service.
The occasion brought together people from different backgrounds united by the Thanksgiving, with Kaliisa’s contribution standing out as one of the notable gestures of support during the ceremony.
