RUKIGA – A beautiful atmosphere of family, friendship and thanksgiving is unfolding at St. Mark Kyogo Parish in Buhangizi Archdeaconry, Kigezi Diocese, where Rukiga District Woman MP Hon. Dr. Sylvia Alinaitwe is proudly joining her family to celebrate her mother-in-law, Mrs. Joy Mwanaki, as she marks 90 years of life.

Dr. Sylvia is receiving friends, relatives and fellow leaders with happiness as they join the Mwanaki family for the special thanksgiving, turning the occasion into a memorable celebration of faith, family and long-standing relationships.

Among the distinguished guests standing with Dr. Sylvia today are Kabale District Woman MP Hon. Enid Origumisiriza, popularly known as Aunt Enid, and Rukiga County MP Hon. Patrick Kiconco Katabazi, whose presence has added an important touch of friendship and solidarity to the family celebration.

For Dr. Sylvia, the occasion is particularly special. As the first daughter-in-law of the late Mwanaki, she is not simply attending a public function but is joining her family in honouring a woman whose life has reached the remarkable milestone of 90 years.

Her warm reception of Aunt Enid and Hon. Katabazi reflects the spirit of togetherness surrounding the celebration, as leaders put aside their usual political engagements to share in a deeply personal family moment.

Aunt Enid’s presence alongside Dr. Sylvia gives the thanksgiving an added sense of friendship and togetherness, while Hon. Katabazi’s participation brings another strong voice from Rukiga to an occasion celebrating one of the community’s important family milestones.

The thanksgiving is attracting hundreds of Christians, relatives, friends, religious leaders and other political leaders, all gathered to give thanks to God for Mrs. Mwanaki’s long life.

Other leaders attending include Bushenyi District Woman MP Hon. Annet Mugisha, alongside other dignitaries and well-wishers.

The Bishop of Kigezi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Gad Akanjuna, is the main celebrant and is leading the ongoing service.

The celebration is being guided by the powerful words of Psalm 23:6: “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

As Mrs. Mwanaki celebrates 90 years, the occasion is bringing together generations of family, friends and leaders in an atmosphere of prayer, worship, love and gratitude.

For Dr. Sylvia, having Aunt Enid, Hon. Katabazi and other leaders join her family on such a significant day makes the celebration even more meaningful, as she continues to honour her mother-in-law and give thanks to God for the gift of her life.

At St. Mark Kyogo today, the message is clear: 90 years is not only a milestone to celebrate, but a life to honour, a family to embrace and a blessing to thank God for.
