KAMPALA – Minister of State for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, Hon. David Bahati, joined the Assistant Commissioner General of Uganda Prisons, Robert Munanura, and retired Bishop of Mukono, Rt. Rev. James William Ssebagala, at a fundraising dinner in support of the construction of the Mothers’ Union House.

The fundraising dinner was held at Serova Portico Hotel, where religious leaders, government officials and other invited guests gathered to support the development of the Mothers’ Union House, an initiative aimed at strengthening the organisation’s work and expanding its capacity to serve communities.

During the event, Bahati commended the Mothers’ Union for its continued contribution towards promoting strong, stable and self-sustaining families, describing the family as one of the most important foundations of a peaceful and prosperous society.

He noted that strong families played a critical role in nurturing responsible citizens, instilling positive values among children and preparing young people to become productive members of society.

Bahati further observed that families remained central to community development, explaining that stable homes helped strengthen social relationships, promote responsibility and create an environment in which individuals could contribute meaningfully to national development.

The minister emphasised that the work of the Mothers’ Union went beyond supporting individual households, noting that its efforts in promoting family stability also contributed to broader social transformation and national progress.

He encouraged continued support for initiatives that strengthened families and empowered communities, recognising the importance of partnerships between religious institutions, government and other stakeholders in addressing social challenges.

The presence of Munanura and Bishop Ssebagala added to the significance of the fundraising dinner, bringing together representatives from the public service and religious leadership in support of the Mothers’ Union House construction project.

Bahati’s participation reaffirmed the importance of family-centred initiatives in building a stable society, with the fundraising dinner providing an opportunity for stakeholders to contribute towards an institution committed to strengthening families and promoting community welfare.
