Kampala — Bukooli North Member of Parliament and Shadow Minister for Water and Environment, Hon. Jamal Mukuve Ayagalachi, raised concern in Parliament over the plight of pupils at Kiseitaka Primary School in Kapyanga, Bugiri District, after strong winds blew off the school’s roof.

Ayagalachi brought the matter to the floor of Parliament, describing the situation as an urgent issue of national importance requiring immediate government attention.

The legislator said the damage had left pupils without a safe and suitable environment in which to sit their Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), raising concern over the possible impact of the situation on their performance.

He appealed to the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister to urgently intervene and ensure that the affected school received the necessary support before the examinations began.

Ayagalachi stressed that the welfare and future of the affected learners should not be compromised because of delays in responding to the damage caused by the strong winds.

The MP called for prompt action to restore a safe learning environment at Kiseitaka Primary School, particularly at a time when candidates were preparing to sit their final primary examinations.

He said ensuring that learners have secure classrooms and appropriate examination facilities was essential to protecting their academic progress and giving them a fair opportunity to perform to their potential.

The concern also drew attention to the wider need for government to respond quickly whenever schools are affected by weather-related disasters that disrupt learning and expose pupils to difficult conditions.

Ayagalachi’s intervention placed the condition of Kiseitaka Primary School among the issues requiring urgent attention as the country prepared for the PLE, with the legislator seeking government action to safeguard the affected candidates.

The Bukooli North MP maintained that the children’s future deserved timely protection and that government intervention should come before the examination period to ensure the pupils were able to sit their PLE in a safe and suitable environment.
