Kampala–Hoima Road — Hoima City Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Nyakato Asinansi, has intensified calls for improved road infrastructure following the dispatch of Ministry of Works and Transport engineers to address sections of the Kafu and Kiribanywya bridges along the Kampala–Hoima Road.

Asinansi engaged officials from the Ministry of Works and Transport over the condition of the two bridges, drawing attention to sections that are in a poor state and require urgent attention.

Following the engagement, ministry engineers have been dispatched to the affected sections to assess the situation and undertake the necessary works.

The intervention is expected to improve conditions for motorists and other road users travelling along the Kampala–Hoima Road, an important transport corridor connecting communities and supporting the movement of people and goods.

As Uganda prepares to co-host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, Asinansi has emphasised the need for good roads across the region and the country to support smooth movement and strengthen infrastructure ahead of the continental tournament.

She has pledged to continue engaging the Government to ensure that roads across the region and other parts of the country receive the necessary attention and remain motorable.

Asinansi’s call comes as Uganda prepares for increased movement associated with AFCON 2027, making reliable road infrastructure an important part of the country’s wider preparations for the tournament.

The legislator has welcomed the Ministry’s response, thanking the Minister for Works and Transport, Hon. Fred Byamukama, together with his team, for responding to the concerns and dispatching engineers to the affected sections.

The intervention on the Kafu and Kiribanywya bridges is expected to contribute to improved connectivity along the Kampala–Hoima corridor, while Asinansi says she will continue engaging Government on road infrastructure challenges affecting communities across the region and the country.
