KYENJOJO — State Minister for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives Hon. David Bahati represented the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, at a thanksgiving ceremony for Mwenge Central Member of Parliament Hon. Methuselah Kasukali, where he delivered a message calling for unity and cooperation among NRM members.
Bahati represented Tayebwa, who was the Chief Guest, at the thanksgiving held on Friday in Nyanjategera, Bugaki Sub-County, Kyenjojo District.
In delivering the Deputy Speaker’s message, Bahati called upon NRM members, particularly those who contested in the party primaries and did not emerge victorious, to put the competition behind them and work together for the common good.
He emphasized that the NRM primaries were an internal contest and that, after the elections, members should remain united and support one another in advancing the party’s work and serving the people.
Bahati’s message came as Kasukali celebrated his victory in the NRM primaries and his subsequent election as the duly elected Member of Parliament for Mwenge Central County.
The minister conveyed Tayebwa’s greetings and message to the gathering, representing the Deputy Speaker at an event that brought together political, cultural and religious leaders from the area.
The thanksgiving service was led by the retired Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, the Most Rev. Stanley Ntagali, as the main celebrant.
He was joined by the Rt. Rev. Reuben Kisembo, Bishop of Ruwenzori Diocese; the Rt. Rev. Barnabus Tibeijuka, Bishop of West Rwenzori Diocese; and the Rt. Rev. Edward Bamucwanira, retired Bishop of East Rwenzori Diocese.
The ceremony attracted political and cultural leaders, heads of different religious denominations, family members and other guests who gathered to join Kasukali in thanking God for the gift of life and his political success.
Kasukali’s thanksgiving followed his landslide victory in the NRM party primaries and his subsequent victory in the general elections, culminating in his declaration as the duly elected Member of Parliament for Mwenge Central County.
Bahati’s representation of Tayebwa added a message of reconciliation and unity to the celebration, with the minister urging NRM members to work together beyond the internal competition and focus on their shared responsibilities to the party and the people.
The occasion therefore combined thanksgiving for Kasukali’s electoral success with a broader call for unity among NRM members as they move forward together.
