Isingiro District — Residents of Isingiro District have been sensitised on procedures for accessing justice, with particular emphasis on domestic violence, land and boundary disputes, and succession rights.
The sensitisation was conducted during a community engagement in Ruyanga, where residents were encouraged to understand their legal rights and the procedures available to them when seeking justice.
Alex Musimenta, the Executive Director of Legal Dream Team, urged residents to seek legal assistance as soon as they encounter disputes or other legal challenges instead of waiting until conflicts escalate.
Musimenta said early intervention can help communities address disagreements through appropriate legal channels and prevent disputes from developing into more serious conflicts.
He particularly encouraged residents facing domestic violence to seek assistance and report cases through the relevant authorities and legal support structures rather than remaining silent.
On land matters, residents were advised to understand ownership and boundary procedures and to seek legal guidance before entering into transactions or taking actions that could later result in disputes.
David Asasiira, a member of the Legal Dream Team, said the sensitisation was intended to help residents better understand the law and avoid mistakes when handling sensitive transactions and other legal matters.
The Legal Dream Team also encouraged residents to make use of available free legal services, noting that timely access to legal guidance can help people understand their rights, responsibilities and available remedies when faced with disputes.
