KARUZIIKA PALACE, FORT PORTAL — Hon. Kasukali Methuselah, Member of Parliament for Mwenge Central County in Kyenjojo District, has joined thousands of people at Karuziika Palace to celebrate the coronation of His Majesty Omukama Edward Rukidi Nyabongo I as the new King of Tooro Kingdom.
Kasukali attended the historic ceremony alongside other leaders, cultural figures and members of the public as Tooro formally welcomed its new Omukama. The coronation is being held at Karuziika Palace in Fort Portal on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
Speaking on behalf of his family and the people of Mwenge Central, Kasukali conveyed heartfelt congratulations to Omukama Edward Rukidi Nyabongo I and wished him wisdom, strength and God’s blessings as he begins his reign.
“From my family and the people of Mwenge Central, I wish our King God’s blessings and protection as he reigns and presides over our mighty Tooro Kingdom. Congratulations!” Kasukali said.
He described the coronation as an important moment for the people of Tooro, noting that cultural institutions remain an important part of Uganda’s heritage and identity.
Kasukali also joined other guests in celebrating the transition to a new chapter following the death of the late Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV on August 27, 2026. The Babiito Royal Clan subsequently selected Edward Rukidi Kijanangoma, who was endorsed by the Tooro Kingdom Supreme Council.
The coronation is being presided over in the presence of H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who is the Chief Guest at the ceremony.
For Kasukali, the occasion provides an opportunity for leaders and communities across Tooro to celebrate their shared heritage while extending goodwill and prayers for the new Omukama as he begins his reign.
