KAMPALA — Wakiso District Woman Member of Parliament Betty Ethel Naluyima has highlighted key areas of progress within the Uganda Women Parliamentary Association (UWOPA) following its first General Meeting of the 12th Parliament.

The meeting brought together women Members of Parliament to review the association’s organisational progress and discuss priorities for the new parliamentary term.

The UWOPA Executive presented updates on several areas of the association’s operations, with members considering the progress made since the beginning of the 12th Parliament.
Among the issues reviewed was staffing, as the association continues efforts to strengthen its administrative structures and ensure effective coordination of its activities.
Members also received an update on the status of bank account signatories, an issue linked to the association’s financial and administrative operations.
The meeting further considered the ongoing constitutional review, which is expected to guide discussions on strengthening UWOPA’s institutional framework and operations.
Another key area on the agenda was the association’s Strategic Plan, which is intended to provide direction for its programmes, advocacy activities and priorities during the current parliamentary term.
The General Meeting comes as women legislators continue to use UWOPA as a platform for collaboration on issues affecting women, children, families and communities, while also promoting women’s participation in leadership and legislation.
The meeting marked an important step in setting the organisational direction of UWOPA in the 12th Parliament, with members expected to continue working together to advance the association’s objectives and strengthen its role in Parliament.
