KAMPALA — Kibale District Woman Member of Parliament Hon. Annet Nabaduka participated in a two-day conference at Hotel Africana in Kampala, bringing together stakeholders from different organisations and associations to engage on land management and related issues.

The conference, which began on Thursday, October 15, 2026, brought together various organisations and associations working in areas connected to land governance, women’s land rights and community development.

Among the organisations involved in organising the conference were FIDA, ICLA, Stand for Her Land, Fredonia International, the Uganda Parliamentarians Land Management Forum and the Allied Workers Association.

The gathering provided an opportunity for participants from different institutions to come together, exchange experiences and discuss issues affecting land management and the protection of land rights in Uganda.

Land remains an important resource for many Ugandan families, serving as a source of livelihood, wealth creation and economic security. However, questions surrounding land ownership, access, administration and the protection of vulnerable communities continue to attract public attention.

Women’s access to and ownership of land is also an important issue in discussions about equality and economic empowerment. Strengthening awareness of land rights and promoting fair land administration can help communities protect their interests and reduce disputes.

The involvement of parliamentary representatives such as Hon. Nabaduka in stakeholder engagements of this nature provides an opportunity to connect community concerns with wider discussions on land policies, legal protections and development priorities.

Collaboration among civil society organisations, professional associations, policymakers and other stakeholders is essential in promoting informed discussions and identifying practical approaches to challenges affecting land administration and ownership.

The two-day conference was expected to provide a platform for continued engagement among participants on land-related concerns and the importance of strengthening cooperation among institutions working towards improved land management and the protection of people’s rights.
