BUSUNJU–KIBOGA–HOIMA ROAD, UGANDA — Minister of State for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives (Industry), David Bahati, has urged the technical team overseeing the Busunju–Kiboga–Hoima Road project to expedite construction works following an inspection of the ongoing project.

Bahati conducted the inspection alongside the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of Parliament’s Committee on Trade and Tourism and members of the Uganda Development Corporation (UDC) Board.

The inspection was aimed at assessing progress on the road project, which has reached 40 per cent completion, according to Bahati.

The Minister commended the work undertaken so far but urged the technical team to accelerate implementation to meet the February 2027 completion target.
Bahati also highlighted UDC’s investment of Shs96 billion for a 29 per cent stake in ATSGCL, saying the investment had helped build the capacity of a Ugandan company in the construction business.
The investment demonstrates UDC’s role in supporting local enterprises and strengthening Uganda’s capacity to undertake major construction projects.
The Busunju–Kiboga–Hoima Road is expected to improve connectivity and support economic activities through better movement of people and goods along the route.
Bahati’s remarks underscore the importance of timely project implementation in ensuring that infrastructure investments deliver their intended benefits to communities and businesses.
The inspection comes as UDC prepares to celebrate 10 years of operation on November 20, 2026, with a focus on the impact of its investments on job creation, connectivity and industrialisation.
Bahati reaffirmed the government’s commitment to infrastructure development as a key driver of industrialisation, in line with the National Resistance Movement manifesto.
