KIBAALE — Buyanja East County Member of Parliament, Hon. Dr. Emely Kugonza, has joined other political leaders in Kibaale District in endorsing Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba for the 2031 presidential election.

Dr. Kugonza joined Finance Minister and Buyanja County MP Hon. Matia Kasaija and Kibaale District Woman MP Hon. Annet Nabaduka in expressing support for Gen. Kainerugaba, bringing together key leaders from the district around the proposed 2031 presidential bid.

The endorsement positions Dr. Kugonza among leaders in the Bunyoro sub-region who are publicly associating themselves with Gen. Kainerugaba’s political aspirations ahead of the next presidential election.
Dr. Kugonza, who represents Buyanja East County, has continued to take part in political and leadership activities within the Bunyoro sub-region, where he has also played a role in coordinating parliamentary leaders from the region.
His participation alongside Hon. Kasaija and Hon. Nabaduka gives the endorsement a broad representation, bringing together the area’s county and district-level parliamentary leadership.
The development comes amid growing political activity around Gen. Kainerugaba and preparations for the 2031 presidential contest. Supporters of the General have been conducting mobilisation and endorsement activities in different parts of the country.
For Dr. Kugonza, the endorsement marks his public alignment with the political efforts surrounding Gen. Kainerugaba, while also placing Kibaale among the districts where elected leaders are participating in discussions about the country’s political direction beyond the 2026–2031 electoral cycle.
The Kibaale leaders’ move is therefore expected to add momentum to the ongoing mobilisation activities in the district and the wider Bunyoro sub-region as supporters of Gen. Kainerugaba continue building structures and seeking endorsements ahead of 2031.
