KIBAALE — Buyanja East County Member of Parliament, Hon. Dr. Emely Kugonza, has joined other political leaders in Kibaale District in endorsing Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba for the 2031 presidential election.

Dr. Kugonza joined former Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development and Buyanja County Member of Parliament, Hon. Matia Kasaija, who was the Chief Guest at the event, and Kibaale District Woman MP, Hon. Annet Nabaduka, in expressing support for Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba and his 2031 presidential aspirations.

The endorsement brought together leaders from across Kibaale District, reflecting growing political mobilisation around Gen. Kainerugaba’s proposed candidature ahead of the next presidential election.

Dr. Kugonza, who represents Buyanja East County, has continued to participate in political and leadership activities within the Bunyoro sub-region, where he has also played a role in coordinating parliamentary leaders from the region.
His participation alongside Hon. Kasaija and Hon. Nabaduka adds to the growing number of elected leaders in the region publicly associating themselves with Gen. Kainerugaba’s political aspirations.
The development comes amid increasing political activity surrounding Gen. Kainerugaba and preparations for the 2031 presidential contest. His supporters have been conducting mobilisation and endorsement activities in different parts of the country.
For Dr. Kugonza, joining the Kibaale leaders in the endorsement signals his support for the political efforts surrounding Gen. Kainerugaba and places him among leaders engaging in discussions about Uganda’s political direction beyond the 2026–2031 electoral cycle.
The Kibaale endorsement is expected to add momentum to ongoing mobilisation efforts in the district and the wider Bunyoro sub-region as supporters of Gen. Kainerugaba continue building support and seeking endorsements ahead of the 2031 presidential election.
