PARLIAMENT, KAMPALA — Kazo County Member of Parliament Hon. Dan Kimosho Atwijukire has raised a matter of national importance over a wave of murders reported in Kazo District between August 17 and September 27, 2026, calling for urgent government intervention to protect residents and restore public confidence.
Presenting the matter before Parliament during the ongoing sitting, Kimosho said 10 people had been murdered within the one-month period, leaving families devastated and residents living in fear. He described the situation as shocking and heartbreaking, urging the Government to treat the security situation with urgency.
According to Kimosho’s statement, six people were killed using hammers, two were slaughtered, one was strangled using a mosquito net, while another was killed in what he described as a butchering incident. He said the different incidents have left communities deeply concerned about their safety.
The legislator said suspects had been apprehended in two of the incidents. In one case, he said suspects confessed to killing a woman after learning that she had received Shs1.5 million from a local savings group known as Bigombe.
Kimosho further told Parliament that the suspects in that case allegedly confessed to sharing the money obtained from the crime, with each of them reportedly receiving Shs450,000.
The MP called on Parliament to direct the Government, specifically the Ministers responsible for Internal Affairs and Defence, to urgently convene a high-level security stakeholder meeting in Kazo District. He said the meeting would help reassure, comfort and engage residents who are currently living in fear.
Kimosho also called for an immediate increase in security deployment, visibility and intelligence-led patrols across Kazo District, arguing that stronger security measures are needed to deter further criminal activity and protect residents.
He further urged the Government to expedite investigations into all the reported murders and ensure that the investigations are comprehensive and conclusive, so that those responsible are brought to justice and the victims’ families receive justice.
Concluding his submission, Kimosho said the people of Kazo deserve to live in peace and security. He urged the Government to act swiftly to restore public confidence, prevent further loss of life and reassure communities affected by the recent killings.
