IBANDA – Ibanda District Woman Member of Parliament Hon. Jovrine Kalisa is today completing the third day of her Kireebe Okigambe community operation, demonstrating her continued commitment to taking her work directly to the people of Ibanda District.
The operation kicked off on Monday in Nyamareebe Subcounty, before moving to Inshongorero Town Council yesterday. Today, Hon. Kalisa is continuing the exercise within Ibanda North, engaging residents and listening directly to the challenges affecting their communities.
Throughout the three-day operation, Hon. Kalisa has been moving from community to community, meeting residents, listening to their concerns and documenting issues that require attention. Her approach is centred on understanding problems from the people themselves.
A key area of focus has been the Parish Development Model (PDM). As she is popularly known by many supporters as “Mama PDM,” Hon. Kalisa is assessing whether citizens received their PDM funds, identifying those who have not benefited and registering eligible residents who still need support.
The operation is also giving Hon. Kalisa an opportunity to document challenges related to roads and other infrastructure. These concerns are being raised directly by residents so that they can be followed up with the relevant authorities.
Hon. Kalisa is being accompanied during the operation by Hon. Rtd. Major Guma Gumisiriza, Member of Parliament for Ibanda North. Their engagement is providing residents with an opportunity to present issues affecting their communities at the grassroots level.
The exercise follows Hon. Kalisa’s continued call for greater accountability in the implementation of government programmes. She has also called for investigations into allegations of corruption and requested the intervention of Hon. Minister Balaam Barugahara to help expose and address possible irregularities.
Completing three consecutive days of community engagement reflects Hon. Kalisa’s hands-on approach to her responsibilities as the Woman Member of Parliament for Ibanda District. Rather than limiting her engagements to offices and formal meetings, she is taking time to reach residents and hear their concerns directly.
As the Kireebe Okigambe operation continues across Ibanda, Hon. Jovrine Kalisa remains focused on listening to citizens, identifying challenges and pushing for solutions to issues affecting communities, particularly in areas of PDM, infrastructure and service delivery.
