FORT PORTAL – Minister of State for Gender and Culture, Hon. Mary Kamuli Kuteesa, has revealed that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will attend the coronation of King Edward Rukidi Nyabongo I at Karuziika Palace on September 29, 2026.
Kuteesa made the revelation while speaking to journalists at Karuziika Palace, where preparations for the historic royal ceremony are taking shape.
The coronation will mark the formal installation of Prince Edward Rukidi Kijanangoma as the new Omukama of Tooro Kingdom, following the passing of the late Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.
The event is expected to bring together cultural leaders, government officials, dignitaries, members of the royal family and people from across Tooro and beyond to witness the historic occasion.
Kuteesa emphasised the importance of respecting Tooro Kingdom’s customs, traditions and established cultural processes as the kingdom prepares for the transition to its new reign.
With President Museveni expected to attend as a key guest, the coronation is set to be a significant national and cultural event, highlighting the importance of Tooro’s heritage and traditions.
