Kampala — Minister of State for Industry, Hon. David Bahati, has presided over the swearing-in of new board members appointed to the Uganda Development Corporation (UDC) and the Uganda Free Zones and Export Promotion Authority (UFZEPA).

The ceremony marked the formal assumption of responsibilities by the newly appointed board members as they take on the task of guiding key institutions involved in Uganda’s industrialisation and export development agenda.

Bahati congratulated the new members upon their appointments and urged them to approach their responsibilities with a strong sense of duty and commitment to national development.

The Minister emphasised the importance of integrity, accountability and commitment to results, calling on the board members to ensure that their decisions and actions contribute meaningfully to the country’s economic transformation.
He challenged the new boards to focus on delivering tangible results through effective oversight, strategic decision-making and responsible stewardship of the institutions entrusted to them.
Bahati noted that UDC and UFZEPA have important roles to play in strengthening Uganda’s industrial base, supporting investment and creating opportunities that can contribute to sustainable economic growth.
He further encouraged the board members to work closely with relevant stakeholders to advance initiatives aimed at promoting local production, industrial development and increased participation in international markets.
The Minister said the institutions must remain focused on supporting Uganda’s broader industrialisation and export promotion objectives while ensuring that their operations deliver value to the country.
The new board members now assume their responsibilities with expectations to provide effective leadership, strengthen institutional performance and contribute to Uganda’s pursuit of an increasingly productive and export-oriented economy.
