KABALE — Rukiga District Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Dr. Sylvia Tumuheirwe Alinaitwe, joined thousands of Catholic faithful, clergy and political leaders in Kabale for the Episcopal Ordination and Installation of the new Bishop of Kabale Diocese, Rt. Rev. Bonaventure Bosco Gubazire.

The colourful ceremony brought together Christians from across the Kigezi sub-region and beyond, marking a significant moment for Kabale Diocese as Bishop Gubazire formally assumed leadership of the diocese.

Dr. Tumuheirwe Alinaitwe attended the celebration alongside a high-level delegation of national and local leaders, joining the Catholic community in witnessing the installation and praying for the new bishop as he begins his episcopal ministry.

Among the leaders who graced the occasion were Deputy Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, Chief Justice Flavian Zeija, Minister of Finance Hon. Henry Musasizi, Minister of Security Hon. Jim Muhwezi and Minister of State for Trade Hon. David Bahati.

The ceremony also brought together Minister of Health Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, Rukiga County MP Hon. Patrick Kiconco Katabazi, other Members of Parliament, district leaders and religious leaders.

The ordination and installation marked a new chapter for Kabale Diocese as the Catholic faithful welcomed their new shepherd with prayers, joy and renewed hope for the continued growth of the Church in the Kigezi region.

Bishop Gubazire takes over the leadership of the diocese following the retirement of Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira, who served as Bishop of Kabale for more than two decades.

The occasion provided an opportunity for leaders and Christians to celebrate the Catholic Church’s contribution to the spiritual and social development of communities across Kigezi, while welcoming the new bishop to his pastoral responsibility.

As Bishop Gubazire begins his ministry, the faithful expressed their goodwill and prayers for his leadership, unity and service, with the historic ceremony closing on a strong note of celebration and hope for the future of Kabale Diocese.
