Bunyoro Sub-region — Monday: Hon. Dr. Emely Kugonza, Member of Parliament for Buyanja East County in Kibaale District and Chairperson of the Bunyoro Parliamentary Caucus, today led leaders from the Bunyoro Sub-region in picking registration books for the endorsement of PLU National Chairperson Gen. MKM.
The delegation comprised Members of Parliament, interim district coordinators and PLU mobilisers from across Bunyoro, who gathered at the PLU Secretary General’s Office in Naguru, Kampala, to receive the endorsement books.
Dr. Kugonza led the team as they prepared to take the endorsement exercise to the grassroots, with the books expected to be distributed across districts, sub-counties and town councils in the Bunyoro Sub-region.
The Bunyoro leaders also met the Minister for Local Government and PLU Vice Chairperson for Western Region, Hon. Balaam Barugahara, who engaged them on the mobilisation and coordination of the exercise.
The delegation further held discussions with PLU Secretary General Hon. Fadhil as preparations continued for the rollout of the endorsement campaign across the region.
Under the programme, all sub-counties and town councils in Bunyoro are expected to begin signing endorsement books in support of Gen. MKM’s bid to stand for the presidency in the 2031 general elections.
Dr. Kugonza and the other leaders are expected to coordinate the exercise through existing PLU structures, working with district coordinators and grassroots mobilisers to facilitate the process in their respective areas.
The collection of the books marks the beginning of the grassroots phase of the endorsement exercise in Bunyoro, with local leaders now set to take the process closer to communities across the sub-region.
