KABALE, UGANDA — A total of 157 shops and stalls are being allocated to beneficiaries in Kabale Municipality following an initiative by Hon. Dr Balaam Barugahara Atenyi, with Mr Edson, the NRM Publicity Secretary for Kabale District, among the witnesses present during the exercise.

The allocation exercise is being overseen by Mr Sentaro Byamugisha, Mayor of Kabale Municipality, alongside Mr Moses Ahimbisibwe, Senior Assistant Town Clerk of the municipality’s Central Division.

The exercise involves the distribution of 157 business premises to selected beneficiaries, including individuals identified as former landlords, according to information provided about the initiative.

The allocation is intended to provide the beneficiaries with access to shops and stalls for commercial activities, potentially creating opportunities for them to establish or strengthen their businesses.

Hon. Dr Balaam Barugahara Atenyi has been credited with facilitating the initiative, which has brought municipal officials and local political representatives together during the distribution process.

The presence of Mayor Byamugisha and Senior Assistant Town Clerk Ahimbisibwe underscores the involvement of municipal leadership and technical officials in overseeing the exercise.

Mr Edson, who serves as the NRM Publicity Secretary for Kabale District, is among those witnessing the allocation, providing a political party representation at the exercise.

The distribution of the business premises is expected to give successful beneficiaries an opportunity to participate in commercial activities and contribute to the local economy. However, the long-term impact will depend on the allocation terms, the suitability of the premises and the beneficiaries’ ability to operate sustainable businesses.

As the exercise proceeds, attention will remain on the transparency of the allocation process, the eligibility criteria used to select beneficiaries and the effective management of the shops and stalls to ensure that the intended recipients benefit from the initiative.
