ENTEBBE — Hon. Betty Ethel Naluyima, Wakiso District Woman Member of Parliament and Shadow Minister for Gender, Labour and Social Development, joined NTV Uganda in a community clean-up exercise at Entebbe Kitooro and Nakiwogo markets as part of activities to celebrate the broadcaster’s 20 years of service.

The exercise focused on promoting environmental cleanliness, proper sanitation and personal hygiene among market vendors and members of the surrounding communities.

Naluyima said a clean environment and good personal hygiene were essential foundations for a healthy life, calling on communities to take collective responsibility for keeping their surroundings clean.

She noted that sanitation and personal hygiene were not merely individual responsibilities but a shared commitment towards protecting public health and improving people’s quality of life.
The legislator also encouraged residents to maintain cleanliness in their markets, homes and communities beyond the anniversary activities.
Her participation formed part of the community engagement activities marking NTV Uganda’s two decades of broadcasting and service to the country.
The clean-up exercise at Kitooro and Nakiwogo markets brought attention to the importance of maintaining hygienic public spaces, particularly in busy trading centres where large numbers of people interact daily.
The initiative also reinforced the need for cooperation between media institutions, community leaders, traders and residents in promoting healthier and cleaner communities.
Naluyima called on the public to embrace the responsibility of protecting their environment, stressing that cleaner surroundings contribute to healthier communities and a better Uganda.
