KAMPALA — Bukooli North Member of Parliament and Shadow Minister for Water and Environment, Hon. Ayagalachi Mukuve Jamal, has challenged Government to explain the reported commitment of UGX 154 billion to Inspire Africa, a private company.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, Ayagalaki questioned the basis of the reported financial commitment and demanded greater transparency regarding the arrangement between Government and the company.
The legislator asked Government to disclose the ownership of Inspire Africa, saying Parliament and the public need to know who stands behind the private company that is reportedly set to receive the funds.
Ayagalaki also questioned the nature of the agreement allegedly entered into between Government and Inspire Africa, seeking clarity on the terms, obligations and expected outcomes of the arrangement.
He further asked Government to clarify whether the reported UGX 154 billion is being provided as a grant, loan or equity investment, arguing that the financial classification would determine the level of accountability and expected returns to the country.
The Bukooli North MP also sought details on the tangible benefits that ordinary Ugandans are expected to receive from the reported investment, particularly in light of the large amount of public resources involved.
Ayagalaki said accountability should remain central whenever taxpayers’ money is committed, stressing that Ugandans have a right to know how public funds are being allocated and what value they are expected to generate.
“I will not remain silent when billions of taxpayers’ money are committed without clear accountability,” Ayagalaki said, adding that public money belongs to Ugandans and Government must account for every shilling.
