🚨 BREAKING: High Court Judge Mary Kaizetu Injured in Kibuku Road Crash
Judge and aide among three injured after Prado collides with scrap-metal truck on Pallisa–Tirinyi Road
Lady Justice Mary Kaizetu, 52, of the High Court in Mukono, and her aide, Corporal Pamela Makirwoth, are among three people injured in a serious road crash along the Pallisa Tirinyi Road in Kibuku District.
The crash occurred at about 8:30pm on Sunday at Kiryoro after the Toyota Prado (UG 2500149), in which the judge was travelling, collided with a Mitsubishi Fuso truck loaded with scrap metal.
Police said the Prado, driven by Kaziba Godfrey, 56, was travelling from Tirinyi towards Pallisa when the driver swerved to avoid a Mercedes-Benz trailer that had broken down and was improperly parked on the road without adequate warning signs.
The Prado instead collided with the oncoming Fuso, which overturned, while the Prado ended up in a roadside trench. The identity of the Fuso driver had not been established by the time of the report.
ASP Wilfred Kyempasa, the Bukedi North Regional Police Spokesperson, confirmed that police officers from Kibuku and Tirinyi stations, together with traffic officers, visited the scene and documented the crash.
The vehicles were towed to Tirinyi Police Station pending inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles, while the disabled trailer was moved to a safe parking area and warning signs placed at the scene.
Mr Kyempasa attributed the crash to the improper parking of the trailer, which obstructed one lane of the road.
The injured were rushed to a nearby health facility for treatment, with further details on their condition awaited.
