KYEGEGWA — Farmers whose crops were destroyed by a devastating hailstorm in Kyegegwa District have received a boost after Kyaka Central Member of Parliament, Hon. Tom Bright Amooti, donated 1,705 kilograms of maize seed to help affected families replant and rebuild their livelihoods.
The hailstorm, which struck earlier this month, affected farmers in Butera and Rwobunyonyi villages in Kyegegwa Town Council and Bulingo B in Kyegegwa Sub-county, destroying crop gardens and leaving many families facing uncertainty as they struggle to recover from the losses.
Amooti said the donation is aimed at supporting the affected households to return to their gardens and begin the process of restoring their livelihoods. The intervention has also been welcomed as a demonstration of solidarity with residents during a difficult period.
The MP is further engaging the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) to seek additional assistance for the affected communities. He has urged the farmers not to lose hope, saying the destruction of one farming season should not mark the end of their livelihoods.
“With unity, resilience and continued support, we shall rise again and rebuild,” Amooti said, calling for continued efforts to help the affected families recover.
