NANSANA, WAKISO DISTRICT – Woman Member of Parliament Betty Ethel Naluyima joined the Rotary Club of Nansana in a fundraising campaign aimed at completing and upgrading Nakuule Health Centre II to a fully-fledged Health Centre IV, a project expected to improve access to quality healthcare for more than 500,000 residents.

Naluyima expressed her commitment to the initiative, saying the upgrade would bring modern medical services, specialised wards and improved healthcare closer to communities that need better access to treatment.

She described the fundraising initiative as an opportunity for stakeholders to work together towards building a healthier future, particularly for residents who depend on public health facilities for essential medical services.

The Nakuule Health Centre upgrade project was initiated in response to the growing demand for healthcare services in Nansana Municipality, Wakiso District, where rapid population growth has placed increasing pressure on existing health infrastructure.
The existing Health Centre II has been serving a population beyond the level it was originally designed to accommodate, leaving the facility overstretched in terms of infrastructure and service delivery.
The project involves a partnership between the Rotary Club of Nansana, Buganda Kingdom, Buganda Land Board and Nansana Municipality, with the shared objective of transforming the existing facility into a modern Health Centre IV.
Under the partnership arrangement, Buganda Kingdom provided land for the project, the Rotary Club of Nansana took the lead in mobilising funds for construction and equipping, while government was expected to provide medical personnel and essential medicines.
Once completed and fully equipped, the upgraded facility is expected to provide expanded services, including male, female and children’s wards, maternity services, patient admission facilities and operating theatres, reducing the need for residents to travel long distances in search of specialised treatment.
Naluyima’s participation in the fundraising drive adds to efforts by community leaders and development partners to mobilise resources towards completing the project and strengthening healthcare delivery in Nansana Municipality.
The initiative is expected to benefit thousands of families by bringing essential and specialised medical services closer to their communities.
