BUGIRI – Bukooli North Member of Parliament, Hon. Jamal Mukuve Ayagalachi of the National Unity Platform (NUP), has called on the government to prioritise policies that protect livelihoods, strengthen food security and address the growing economic hardships affecting Ugandan households.

Mukuve made the remarks while attending the burials of the late Maama Kagooya Faith in Naminagwe and the late Mirabu in Bubalya, where he joined bereaved families and community members to pay his respects.

In his message, the legislator encouraged residents to remain hopeful despite the rising cost of essential commodities, hunger and other economic challenges affecting families across the country.

He emphasised that the government needed to prioritise policies that protect livelihoods, strengthen food security and prepare citizens to withstand calamities that threaten their economic stability.

Mukuve observed that recent drought conditions and what he described as poorly conceived trade policies had left many families struggling, with some losing their sources of income.

He stressed that communities deserved better, calling for practical government interventions that would enable households to overcome economic hardships and secure sustainable sources of livelihood.

The Bukooli North legislator also used the occasion to express his condolences to the bereaved families, acknowledging the pain of losing their loved ones and encouraging them to remain strong during the difficult period.

The late Kagooya Faith, according to her funeral programme, was born on June 18, 1941, and passed away on November 4, 2026. The second deceased, Mirabu, reportedly passed away following cardiovascular complications.

Mukuve extended his heartfelt condolences to both families, praying for the souls of the departed to rest in eternal peace.
