ACCRA, GHANA – Kabarole District Woman Member of Parliament Hon. Kirungi Annet Pamela is attending a high-level meeting of African legislators taking place in Accra, Ghana, focused on strengthening parliamentary oversight and accountability in the management of public resources.
The meeting, held on November 4, 2026, is running under the theme, “Oversight for Resilient Strengthening of African Public Accounts Committees Amid a Shifting Financial Landscape.”
The engagement brings together African legislators to share experiences, strengthen parliamentary oversight, promote transparency and improve accountability in the management of public funds.
Kirungi’s participation provides an opportunity for Uganda to engage with other African representatives on strategies for improving parliamentary scrutiny of government expenditure and strengthening the effectiveness of Public Accounts Committees.

The discussions in Accra also provide a platform for participants to identify challenges facing parliamentary oversight institutions and explore practical approaches to strengthening public financial management across Africa.
As the Woman MP representing Kabarole District, Kirungi’s participation highlights the importance of Uganda’s involvement in continental engagements aimed at promoting good governance and responsible management of public resources.
The meeting comes amid changing financial and economic conditions across Africa, reinforcing the need for stronger oversight institutions capable of ensuring that public resources are properly managed and directed towards national development priorities.
Through the Accra engagement, African legislators are seeking to strengthen accountability systems, improve institutional effectiveness and reinforce Parliament’s role in safeguarding public resources for the benefit of citizens.
