KARUGUZA, KIBAALE DISTRICT — Hon. Emely Kugonza, Member of Parliament for Buyanja East County, on Friday launched Emesco FM, a new radio station based in Karuguza Town Council, Kibaale District, adding another platform for communication and community engagement in the area.

The radio station is owned by Hon. Kugonza, who is also associated with Emesco Development Foundation, a non-governmental organisation that works to improve the livelihoods of vulnerable and disadvantaged communities.
The launch marked a new step in expanding access to information for residents of Karuguza and neighbouring communities, where radio can play an important role in sharing news, educational programmes and information about development opportunities.
Through Emesco FM, local residents will have an additional platform through which they can follow issues affecting their communities, receive public announcements and participate in discussions on matters of public interest.
Hon. Kugonza’s involvement in community development through Emesco Development Foundation gives the new station an opportunity to complement existing efforts aimed at improving people’s lives. The foundation has worked in areas including community empowerment, food security and support for disadvantaged groups.
The station also has the potential to provide educational programmes on agriculture, health, education, entrepreneurship and other issues that affect households, particularly in rural communities where access to reliable information is important.
Beyond news and entertainment, Emesco FM can provide a platform for residents to express their views, raise community concerns and engage in constructive discussions about local development priorities.
For the station to make a lasting contribution, balanced reporting, responsible broadcasting and programmes that respond to listeners’ needs will be essential in building public trust and serving the wider community.
Hon. Kugonza’s establishment of Emesco FM adds to the communication landscape of Karuguza Town Council and presents an opportunity to bring information closer to the people of Kibaale District.
As the station begins its journey, residents will look forward to programming that informs, educates and entertains while giving community issues the attention they deserve.
