JINJA: Hon. Kasukaali Methuselah Apuuli, Member of Parliament for Mwenge Central County in Kyenjojo District, has been elected Secretary General of the Uganda Parliamentary Forum on Social Protection in the 12th Parliament.

Kasukaali was elected today during a three-day induction meeting for Members of Parliament held at Jinja Nile Resort, bringing together legislators for engagements on parliamentary responsibilities and key national development issues.

The induction meeting was organised by the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development in partnership with UNICEF, with social protection among the key areas of focus during the engagement.

As Secretary General, Kasukaali will serve on an 11-member executive committee and work alongside more than 150 Members of Parliament who subscribe to the social protection agenda.

The Forum provides a platform for MPs to collectively engage on policies and programmes aimed at strengthening social protection and improving the welfare of vulnerable and disadvantaged communities across Uganda.

Speaking after his election, Kasukaali pledged to embrace teamwork and support the leadership of the Forum as he takes on the new responsibility.

“I promise to be a good team player, to give maximum support to my chairman and my fellow members of the executive,” Kasukaali said, committing himself to working closely with the Forum’s leadership and members.

He further pledged to help make the Forum vibrant and ensure that its members give their best in advancing its mandate, stressing the importance of collective effort in achieving meaningful results.

The election gives Kasukaali an additional national parliamentary responsibility as he begins his tenure representing Mwenge Central County, Kyenjojo District, positioning him to participate in wider policy discussions on social protection alongside his constituency duties.
