Fort Portal, Tooro — Tooro’s Chief Prince, Musuuga Charles Kamurasi, has received Shs85.3 million from well-wishers in a major gesture of appreciation for his service to the Tooro royal institution.

The money has reportedly been placed in a CEA Unit Trust, where it is expected to generate returns over time and provide a sustainable source of financial support for the Musuuga.

The generous contribution comes at a significant moment for Tooro following the death of Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV and the subsequent transition that culminated in the installation of a new King.
Musuuga Kamurasi played a prominent role during the transition, particularly in traditional processes surrounding the announcement of the late King’s death and the succession arrangements within the Babiito royal clan.
His responsibilities became even more significant as Tooro prepared for the installation of the new Omukama, with the kingdom going through a period of mourning, cultural rituals and succession activities.
The Shs85.3 million financial gift follows another major gesture from well-wishers who recently contributed towards a Toyota Land Cruiser valued at about Shs180 million for the Musuuga.
The latest arrangement is particularly significant because, rather than simply giving the money as a one-off cash contribution, the funds have been invested with the intention of generating returns to support his upkeep.
The gestures demonstrate the appreciation among Batooro and friends of Tooro for Musuuga Kamurasi’s longstanding service to the royal institution and the responsibilities he has carried during important moments in the kingdom’s history.
As Tooro begins a new chapter under its new King, the support extended to the Musuuga represents recognition of his contribution and dedication to the kingdom, while also providing him with a more sustainable financial foundation for the years ahead.
