KAMPALA- The Anti-Corruption Court in Kampala on Monday, October 12, 2026, remanded former Isingiro District Engineer Eng. Asaph T. Abenaitwe over alleged irregular certification of payments worth more than Shs614 million for road construction works in Isingiro District.

Abenaitwe, who currently serves as an Assistant Commissioner in the Ministry of Education and Sports, is accused of abusing his office between 2022 and 2024 when he served as District Engineer and Project Manager for Isingiro District Local Government.

Prosecution alleges that he arbitrarily certified payments to M/S Prime Contractors Limited for the construction of eight sealed roads measuring 7.09 kilometres in Isingiro Town Council, despite the works allegedly remaining incomplete.

The case centres on concerns over the certification of public payments for road infrastructure projects and the accountability of officials responsible for supervising government-funded works.

Abenaitwe was remanded until October 15, 2026, when he was expected to return to court for further proceedings, including a reported bail application hearing.

The allegations are yet to be determined by the court, and Abenaitwe is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
