RWAMUCUCU, RUKIGA — Hon. Dr. Sylvia Alinaitwe Tumuheirwe, the Rukiga District Woman Member of Parliament, together with Hon. Kiconco Patrick Katabazi, has arrived at Rwamucucu Subcounty Headquarters for the swearing-in ceremony of the Rukiga District Women’s Council Committees for the 2026–2031 term.

The ceremony brings together newly elected women’s council leaders from across Rukiga District as they formally assume their responsibilities to represent and advocate for women and communities at grassroots and district levels.

Dr. Sylvia Alinaitwe Tumuheirwe’s presence highlights her continued engagement with community leadership and her commitment to promoting women’s participation in leadership, development and decision-making processes across Rukiga.

As the district’s woman representative, Dr. Sylvia has emphasized the importance of empowering women to actively participate in programmes aimed at improving household incomes, education, healthcare, social welfare and community development.

Her character as a leader is reflected in her emphasis on service, unity, accountability and inclusive leadership, while ensuring that women at the grassroots have a strong voice in matters affecting their communities.

Hon. Kiconco Patrick Katabazi also joined Dr. Sylvia at the ceremony, adding to the political and community leadership presence as the newly sworn-in committees begin their five-year term of service.

Among the dignitaries attending the function is Oscar Akampurira, the Rukiga District Speaker, alongside other district leaders, local government officials and invited guests who have gathered to witness the formal beginning of the new committees’ mandate.

The ceremony marks a new chapter for women’s leadership in Rukiga, with the newly sworn-in leaders expected to work closely with elected leaders, communities and government structures to advance development and improve the welfare of women and families across the district.
