Kampala — Members of Parliament from the Tooro sub-region have publicly endorsed Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba for Uganda’s 2031 presidential election following a meeting held at the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Secretariat on Saturday.

The meeting was attended by Hon. Kasukaali Methuselah Apuuli, Member of Parliament for Mwenge Central County in Kyenjojo District, who was among the key figures in the Tooro delegation.

Speaking about the gathering, Kasukaali said the Tooro legislators had met under the PLU banner to express their collective support for Gen. Kainerugaba. He said the delegation was received by PLU Secretary General Hon. Twaha Fadil.

In a post accompanying photographs of the meeting, Kasukaali said the Tooro MPs were “ready to move forward” and ended with the slogan “Tuko Pamoja,” highlighting the unity of the legislators behind the declaration.

A banner displayed at the meeting carried the PLU logo and the message: “Tooro Sub-Region Endorses General Muhoozi Kainerugaba for President 2031.” Photographs from the gathering showed the legislators seated and standing together in front of the banner at the PLU Secretariat.

Kasukaali said the endorsement reflected the decision of the Tooro legislators to organise and work together around their preferred candidate ahead of the 2031 presidential election.

The meeting also brought the Tooro legislators together with PLU officials, who received the delegation and facilitated the formal declaration of support for Gen. Kainerugaba.

The declaration adds to the growing political activity surrounding the 2031 presidential race, with different groups and regional leaders beginning to publicly express their positions well ahead of the next election cycle.

The Tooro MPs’ endorsement, led publicly by Kasukaali and announced under the PLU banner, marks an early declaration of political support from the sub-region and sets the stage for continued mobilisation and political engagement as preparations for the 2031 elections gradually take shape.
