TEREGO DISTRICT – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has inaugurated the newly constructed Leju Stadium in Terego District, describing it as a valuable addition to the area’s growing social infrastructure. The stadium, he said, will not only promote sports but also strengthen community unity and youth engagement.

While addressing residents, Museveni highlighted the government’s commitment to improving social services across the district. He revealed that Terego currently has 73 primary schools and 8 secondary schools spread across 42 parishes, but noted that some parishes still lack primary schools.

“We will correct this imbalance,” the President said. “Every parish without a primary school will get one, and every sub-county without a secondary school will also receive one.”

On health services, Museveni outlined that Terego has seven sub-counties, one of which already hosts a Health Centre IV, while five others have Health Centre IIIs. Only two sub-counties currently lack health facilities. He assured residents that government would ensure every sub-county has at least one health centre, adding that plans are also underway to establish a district hospital.

The President also praised the ongoing progress in rural electrification across West Nile. Using humor, he remarked that the spread of electricity is now so extensive that his helicopter must “land carefully” to avoid hitting power lines — a sharp contrast from previous years when such infrastructure was sparse.

Turning to wealth creation and development, Museveni reiterated his vision for a modern, prosperous, and poverty-free Uganda, anchored on education and economic empowerment.

“Uganda must be free from poverty and backwardness. Education should be accessible to all,” he emphasized. “I urge the people of Terego to continue supporting the NRM so that together, we can achieve a modern and prosperous Uganda.”

The event drew hundreds of residents and local leaders, who hailed the President’s visit as a strong signal of government’s continued commitment to improving service delivery and infrastructure development in the region.
